Open House and Potluck To Be Announced!
With a well researched and practiced pedagogy inspired by Waldorf education for a foundation, the local outdoor natural beauty, and a love of the arts, our curriculum has many features and layers to meet a variety of learning styles. By sharing insights from parents and using our richly diverse community skills, we collaborate with the children to meet the changing needs of the group. Four week curriculum blocks reflect the seasons and appropriate educational standards are designed to meet each child's pace.
Mixed Age Classroom TINY FOLK Parent Cooperative age range and curriculum is for 6-12 year olds. KINDERGARTEN will be added 2022 Class Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 845am to 315pm
A typical day of class in our programs begins outside. After all the children have come on site we have a full hour of MORNING CIRCLE and some chores. This time allows teachers to observe the changing social dynamic of the class. The bell rings and everyone heads into the Main House for Main Lesson. Our Min Lesson is an essential element of the day, and is taught in group rotations. Acknowledging the weather, singing seasonal songs, participating in action verses and movement bring the class together in community harmony. Some focused art and craft activities follow the Main Lesson and then we have a snack. We enjoy free play and focused work, each day brings something new. After a rest and story, it is time to go back outside until the end of the day. We eat lunch in the Main House. Working with tools is an important part of our time together and tool safety and care is discussed and practiced daily. We work with wood, clay, sand, rocks, straw bales and branches to build and create play structures and design activities that evolve and change with the seasons. Fort building, fire tending, sawing wood, are all integrated into the seasonal stories and the opportunity to enact out of the songs and stories is encouraged.
Lunch and snacks Families bring their own lunch and snack provisions. A hot porridge and tea will be offered in the Main Farm House as well, during the cold season. On Wednesdays we make a community soup that parents can take home. Thursday we enjoy baking bread and scones!
